When you think of Tweed, what comes to mind? I instantly picture a brisk autumn day with yellow orange leaves on the ground crunching under my feet as I stroll through the city (with my love and puppy) sipping on a hot cup of coffee. Yes, clothes and patterns make me feel a certain way….
But what I failed to mention is that in my mind, Tweed is always the color of Autumn, rich in browns, oranges, hunter greens.
Today’s fashion spins a different story. For one, Tweed is no longer a fabric worn just in Autumn. It is universal and can be worn throughout the year in all seasons. I saw it in stores all Spring and now its Everywhere come Fall. This open-weave wool proves to be timeless and classic.
On my latest post, I asked you all if Tweed is still in? Majority of you said Yes, while the rest of you swooned over this suit and ignored my question completely. (I’ll consider that a Yes too). I am ALL for Tweed. Now that it is no longer limited to just a brown color scheme, you can have fun with it. This fabric looks good on anyone, men and women alike. Wear it out to lunch or the office and you will not feel out of place.
When I saw this suit, I immediately had to have it. BTW, my pro-tip is to always buy the full set if you can because nothing screams put together more than the whole ensemble. And the best part is you can wear these pieces separately, which is more wear for your money $.
I kept this look simple and paired it with a ruffled white top to not take away from the suit details which includes colors galore and pom poms! And because Tweed is wool material and the weather has been very unpredictable in NYC, open toe shoes it is. Once it gets a bit colder, this would look incredible with a high knee boot.
Here are some other options I love if you want to re-create this look:
